Empathetic Leadership

Are you comfortable in your skin yet? Do you realize what your role is? Good…

I am pretty sure by now you are gaining comfort in your new skin, your new suit (that is a bit large on you). You can hear the message within the message. You see the story shared with you from heart to heart. You are no longer just listening but hearing. The team is beginning to believe in your commitment, one olive branch at a time.

The tough road is going to be ahead of you and at some point you will go into a various number of transitions. Your first, debate, your first crisis, your first win and yes, your first, “aha moment”.

The AHA moment is not just for you but also for the person you are engaged in discussion with. They will begin to realize you really are the leader they have been looking for. One that is committed not just to the mission but to the people first and foremost. They say true leaders commit to carrying others crosses as a badge of honor. I believe that to be true. I see that small win coming through action every day and those are the incremental victories that need to be celebrated daily when possible.

How is it that some of us have forgotten the most relevant part about work? The human element of business. THAT is what we should look for and bring to every action or reaction wherever and whenever we can.

Even wartime leaders walk on the battlefield with a sincere level of empathy.

It is your turn to learn and teach what an empathetic leader looks like feels like and speaks like.
